In Brief

By providing the means to use the almost infinite resources of our mind much more effectively, hypnosis can bring benefits in all areas of our lives.

By calming fears and stress, hypnosis helps the body mobilize all its resources to fight illness and regain better health.

Because of the close and innumerable links between body and mind, hypnosis has also proved effective in many problems related to the body and mental health, such as :

  • increased self-confidence and/or self-esteem,
  • phobias (public speaking, flying, etc.),
  • weight loss; eating disorders,
  • chronic pain (back, arthritis, etc.),
  • giving up harmful habits (smoking, alcohol, etc.),
  • reduced stress and anxiety,
  • high blood pressure, skin problems,
  • asthma, allergies,
  • fibromyalgia,
  • sleep disorders, burn-out, depression,
  • autoimmune diseases,
  • sexual disorders,
  • concentration and improved learning skills,
  • childbirth preparation,
  • personal fulfillment, development of creativity.
  • This work can be done both in person and remotely (via Skype).

Hypnosis is a very ancient therapy, and traces of it can be found in the famous Ebers papyrus dating from around 1500 BC, one of the oldest medical treatises found to date.

Hypnosis uses the brain’s natural ability to modify its state of consciousness.

In fact, the hypnotic trance state is one in which we find ourselves naturally, when we’re “in the moonlight” or when we’re so absorbed in what we’re doing that we lose awareness of the outside world and of time passing.

In a hypnotic trance, our brain mobilizes its fabulous learning and creative capacities to find solutions that are totally beyond the reach of our unconscious.

Recent neuroscience researches (using MRI) has greatly contributed to our understanding of how our brains work during a hypnotic trance.

Therapeutic Ericksonian hypnosis owes its name to Milton H. Erickson (1901-1980, pictured opposite), an outstanding American psychiatrist and psychotherapist.

One of the special features of Ericksonian hypnosis is that..:

  • the subject is free to choose
  • the hypnotherapist doesn’t know; he doesn’t have the power
  • the approach is flexible and individualized; each person is unique.
  • The patient is active
  • the unconscious brings resources and can learn.
  • The hypnotherapist “dances” with the client.
